The Book for Every Wanderlust
THE ALCHEMIST by Paulo Coehlo. OK, I couldn't help but give it away but it has become one of my favorite books. I just finished reading the best-selling novel today and it was the little reminder I needed to keep chasing after my dream of travel.
We all aspire for things (success, love, money the list could go on..) but when faced with hardship, tend to buckle under pressure. Traveling isn't easy at times: it can be expensive and the idea of leaving your comfort zone can be scary but we cannot allow fear to keep us from pursuing the life we are meant to live.
Fellow wanderlusts, if you have a burning desire to experience a world different from your current residence, then go. Follow your Personal Legend (a term used throughout the book referring to your life purpose.) Yeah, you may get robbed like I did in Dubai, (my phone was stolen) or you may miss your flight but what you learn from these trials allow you to grow and evolve into the person you should be and brings you one step closer to your Personal Legend.
Be transformed by life.
Now without giving the story away here a few quotes that resonated with me from the book:
“I don’t live in either my past or my future. I’m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we’re living now.” – Paulo Coelho
“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Coelho
“There is only one way to learn. It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey.” – Paulo Coelho
“What is the world’s greatest lie?” the little boy asks.
The old man replies, “It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.” – Paulo Coelho
